A/Prof. Costas Yannakou attained his medical degree with Honours from the University of Melbourne. He undertook specialist training in Clinical and Laboratory Haematology at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and has been awarded dual Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia. He underwent further sub-specialty training in Molecular Haematopathology at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and has been awarded a PhD by the University of Melbourne in the field of massively parallel sequencing technology and its application in the evaluation of haematological malignancies.
A/Prof. Yannakou is the Co-Director of the Cancer Services Clinical Institute, Director of the Haematology Clinical Trials Unit and Deputy Medical Director of the Department of Molecular Oncology and Cancer Immunology (MOCI) at Epworth HealthCare.
