Dr Chathuri Abeyakoon is a dual-trained Clinical and Laboratory Haematologist with a sub-speciality expertise in lymphoid malignancies and the use of novel therapeutics. She manages a broad spectrum of both benign and malignant blood disorders.
Dr Abeyakoon holds fellowships from both the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) and the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (FRCPA). She completed a prestigious two-year Clinical and Research Fellowship at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto, Canada and was the Chief Fellow of the lymphoma, myeloma and autologous transplantation program. During this time, she gained extensive experience in managing lymphoma and plasma cell disorders, including the use of cellular therapies such as autologous stem cell transplantation and CAR T-cell therapy, as well as targeted therapies and clinical trials.
Currently, Dr Abeyakoon holds a public appointment at Monash Health, where she is actively involved in the lymphoma service and clinical trials unit. She is also pursuing a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) through Monash University, with her research published in several peer-reviewed journals and recognised internationally, including an Abstract Achievement Award from the American Society of Hematology.
